While he served as a resourceful host and organizer of the i.e. reading series, Michael Ball quietly filed away at Mole Fizz, a “forum for circumstance”. The uncertainty of love and work are in the ground of these short poems. Taken as a whole they testify to the sweetness found in precarious living.

We recently unearthed a small number of the chapbook High Beam by Anselm Hollo. This is a beautiful example of fine printing featuring poems by a master. Of the original 150 copies in the edition, only three are known to be on the market today. While the ZDWP was on its Spring hiatus, our genial custodian, “Uncle” Vanya, came into possession of a trove of small press treats and rarities. A lot of what he found there was entirely singular, and as such will stay on lack mountain in the ZDWP lounge-brary.

But not all. Among that trove are some partial print runs, hors commerce editions, and incomplete projects that can be completed with a little TLC from the ZDWP.

We have decided to create a second series of publications under the rubric UNCACHED, to release or re-release these items for the readers who will want them.

The first title to be UNCACHED is the first book of poems by Rod Smith, The Boy Poems, originally published in 1994. There were several copies of the book body, unbound and without covers, and a mock-up indicating the cover design. The files from which it was printed are presumably lost and gone forever. But we have created a new cover that faithfully echoes the original, and have bound an edition of 20 copies.

lack mountain is excited to announce the release of For More Lectures, a previously unpublished poem by Stephen Rodefer. This edition includes a reproduction of the poet’s typescript with hand corrections and a transcription of the text. An introductory essay situates the poem in context. A photo portrait of Rodefer and a Q&A (originally published in Boog City) make this a unique addition to the Rodefer record.

lack mountain is pleased to announce the arrival of Two Transcriptions of Imaginary Elegies I-IV by Jack Spicer. Two versions of this legendary poem, one recorded in 1957 and another from 1963, have been transcribed from audio recordings, illuminating Spicer’s dynamic approach to his poetry and performance.
